Azure Solution Architect

  • Bespoke applications designed around an Azure first principal leveraging Azure App Service, Storage Accounts, Service Bus, Search, Files, Function Apps, Logic Apps, App Insights etc. Typically C# and .Net Core.
  • Ensuring NFRs defined suitably, designing an appropriate architecture to support the NFRs and providing oversight during project delivery to ensure good practice followed by developers and platform teams to meet NFRs (e.g implementing security requirements (user authentication, API authentication etc), event/ debug/error logging etc, performance and availability etc).
  • Ensuring solution architecture is consistent and aligned to wider Enterprise Architecture Vision and Roadmap and moves the organization forward along that roadmap.
  • Working with Project Managers, Development Teams, Enterprise Architects and Product Owners to ensure that technical debt incurred to meet project deadlines is understood, and accepted and captured on product backlogs for future remediation
  • Supporting other solution architects in LR with combination of specific knowledge and broad experience.
  • Helping to mature LR’s internal Digital Platform capability and effective ways of working between external development teams and internal platform management team.
  • Helping to define environment strategy and build / release pipeline approaches
  • Delivering low-code solutions on Microsoft PowerApps platform (Flow/Automate, PowerApps, PowerBI etc).
  • Gaining some great and up-to-date experience with:
    • Azure Platform
    • Modern application development best practice and its real-life variants(!)
    • DevOps CI/CD principles and applying them in practice
    • Modern REST API design, API Management Gateways, OpenAPI /Swagger API documentation etc.
    • Leveraging Microsoft Teams & Planner effectively in project workflows

Technical Solution Architect - Cloud ER, HR and more

  • Technical Architect for ambitious 4 year programme harmonising business processes across the organisation and delivering a major technical consolidation and refresh.
  • Full programme lifecycle from Feasibility through Close Out.
  • Developed and delivered the architecture principles and architecture vision alongside the enterprise architects and then delivered technical solutions for the programme against that vision working with multi-vendor teams.
  • Migration from multiple (line of business / unintegrated acquisitions) on-prem HR and ERP applications to SAP Cloud (SuccessFactors, BPC, Concur, Business ByDesign, SAP Analytics Cloud, SAP EnableNow).
  • Selection and delivery of Dell Boomi (iPaaS) as platform for rapid integration development. Defining the associated high level integration requirements for the programme. Integration with Salesforce and Oracle EBS.
  • Driving improvements in Identity & Access Management, SSO, MFA etc. Delivering integration between SuccessFactors, AD and Azure AD to ensure accurate personnel details are available throughout LR’s core applications. Implementing SAML2 & OAuth SSO with multiple systems. Also delivered a PoC for automated account provisioning (SCIM) between Azure AD and Salesforce.
  • Managed the technical components of the vendor RFPs and lead the technology assessment of vendor solution proposals
  • Ongoing technical solution design throughout programme delivery.
  • Working with Service Management teams to facilitate transition from project to BAU.
  • Managed the delivery of Infrastructure / Networking changes required by the programme.
  • Managed the decommissioning of systems during programme lifecycle where possible and developing the decommissioning and associated archival / reporting approach for systems following the programme close out.
  • Fed into the technical approach for the integration of acquisitions.
