Oracle HR and Financials Technical Consultant

Supporting and Enhancing MoJ HR and Financials systems

For 1 year in 2007/08 I contracted with Unisys who had a number of contracts with various government departments and other public bodies to support Oracle E-Business Suite implementations. I worked in a small team as the lead technical consultant working on a wide variety of requirements.

I provided functional and technical expertise to various public sector clients in both architect and developer roles on EBS implementations covering the Financials (GL, AP, AR, CE, FA, IGI, iProc), and HR/Payroll product groups. Highlights include:

  • Functional and Technical lead on a bid to implement Oracle Cash Management as part of the wider Government Banking Service initiative; This was primarily vanilla CE augmented with custom workflow logic and supporting reports to enable flexible rules to be enforced regarding the escalation of unreconciled items.
  • Technical Architect on bid to implement bespoke Customer Credit Management extension to AR. Designed and prototyped OA Framework custom application integrated with Oracle Workflow;
  • Design and delivery of General Ledger interfaces supplying data for Cognos data warehouse;
  • Design of a data masking solution covering all implemented EBS products to meet Data Protection Act compliance criteria;
  • Design and delivery of Excel based integration solutions extending Web ADI functionality with regard to budget and journal uploads;
  • Implemented Oracle User Productivity Kit and integrated with E-Business Suite;
  • OA Framework customizations to iProcurement product;
  • Various Oracle Workflow customisations;
  • Extensive tuning of reports and processes – in many cases delivering 10-100 fold performance improvements;
  • Functional design for the VAT rate change solution resolving complexities regarding client’s implementation; and
  • Identified and delivered functional / process improvements across AP and AR.
